BBMRI.cz – The Czech Biobank Network and the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer (Pacient Organization) have signed a memorandum of cooperation

As part of this collaboration, educational seminars, educational materials, excursions, and popular science articles are planned with the aim of raising awareness about biobanks and biobanking not only among cancer patients but also among the general public.

New method for early detection of pancreatic cancer, patented in America (developed by Prof. Holčapek's team from the University of Pardubice)

The prestigious Forbes magazine published an interesting article about a new method of early detection of pancreatic cancer, developed by Prof. Holčapek's team from the University of Pardubice, and the start-up Lipidica took this method under its wing. The company has now been granted a US patent.

The cooperation between the AZV ČR and BBMRI.cz - Network of Czech Biobanks is supported by a Memorandum of Cooperation

By signing the Memorandum of Cooperation, the two participating institutions declare their interest to collaborate in addressing the challenges related to biobanking, processing, quality control and archiving of biological material together with the management of associated data, which may be of different nature.

Within the European consortium BBMRI-ERIC, which includes the Czech large research infrastructure BBMRI.cz - Síť českých biobank coordinated by Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute (MMCI), a new ten-year plan respecting the principle of "One Health" was presented.

Czech Biobank Network as an integral part of the innovation ecosystem #brnoregion

At the end of March, the MMCI presented the large research infrastructure BBMRI.cz - Network of Czech Biobanks (www.bbmri.cz) at the informal Velvet Innovation Meet up, which is regularly organized by the South Moravian Innovation Centre.

MMCI Biobank became accredited according to ISO 20387:2021

Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute (MMCI) in Brno has newly been awarded the status of OECI -Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Also defended its position as a centre of the European Rare Adult Cancer Network (ERN EURACAN) and was the first in the Czech Republic and the fifth in Europe to obtain accreditation for the collection and storage of tumour samples for cancer research in the Biological Material Bank (BBM).
