With the year drawing to a close, we thought we would share our plans for the new year and our vision beyond 2019 with you.

They are a key source of new jobs, growth and competitiveness and underpin a wide range of policy priorities including digital Europe, energy efficiency and sustainability.
The U.S. revised its Common Rule protecting human subjects, and the new Final Rule will take effect in January 2019. This article investigates the changes and their implications for biobank research and cooperation between the U.S. and Europe.
Europe Biobank Week 2019 will take place in Lübeck, Germany, from October 8 until 11.

Genetic profiles of patients suffering from cancer or a rare disease are routinely created and interpreted nowadays. It is not uncommon for patients to have their entire DNA unraveled or ‘sequenced’. These data are valuable for the development of personalised medicine, i.e. tailor-made treatment.
The new standard for biobanks, ISO 20387 Biobanking – General Requirements for Biobanking, was released this year. How does it affect data quality? What role does data quality play within a quality management system? In this webinar, Johann Eder, full professor of Information and Communication Systems at the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt, will discuss data quality in the context of biobanking.
